Matt is the Executive Director of BDC Advantage, a leadership development program that uses both in-class learning and strategy-driven project work to help health care organizations develop their mission-critical talent while simultaneously driving better execution of their strategy. This is the first leadership development program with a measurable ROI. Matt has over a decade’s experience advising executive teams and boards of hospitals, health systems, pharmaceutical firms, health insurance companies and medical device manufacturers on strategic, operational, strategic talent management and governance issues.

Prior to joining BDC Advisors, Matt served as a senior consultant for Witt/Kieffer, the preeminent senior executive search firm serving the health care industry. At Witt/Kieffer, Matt specialized in senior executive searches for leading hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers and physician group practices.

Prior to joining Witt/Kieffer, Matt held several leadership roles for The Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC, a publicly traded for-profit research and consulting firm serving a membership of more than 2,600 leading hospitals and health systems. During his ten years with The Advisory Board, Matt contributed to over 60 research studies focused on hospital business strategy, clinical and business operations and leadership development and talent management. Matt also consulted with senior leaders from over 1,000 American hospitals and health systems.

While with The Advisory Board Company, Matt led their Academy Fellowship, a two- year program of executive education and practical application designed to accelerate the readiness of VP and director-level talent to assume C-suite level leadership responsibilities. In this role, Matt was responsible for program strategy and growth, as well as the design of tailored solutions for individuals and institutions aiming to improve organizational performance through leadership development.

Matt began his career on Capitol Hill with the Government Relations Office of the Episcopal Church, USA where he was responsible for developing a nationwide grassroots lobbying network. Across three years he built a national network of more than 10,000 individuals willing to contact their elected representatives to weigh in on public policy issues of the day.

Matt holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Political Management from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of California at Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California.
