Dick was born in North Carolina and lived there through college and graduate school. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dick lived in Georgia and Tennessee until moving to Colorado in the early ‘90s.
Dick has over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare industry in consulting, hospital systems, and group practice development management. He has worked with both for-profit, publicly traded companies (HCA, PhyCor, and UnitedHealth Group) as well as faith-based non-profit companies (Sisters of Charity Health Care System and Centura Health). Prior to joining BDC Advisors, Dick was Senior Vice President of Business Development for Ovations, the UnitedHealth Group business segment which focuses upon the health and well-being needs of Americans aged 50 and over. In this role, he increased the focus upon growth strategies and acquisition opportunities while concentrating on exploring new business opportunities relating to health services needed to assist terminally ill individuals and their families, including end-of-life care. Dick’s recent client experience with BDC Advisors includes strategic planning, payer / provider strategies, physician integration, and provider network contracting.
Dick is married with two adult children and four grandchildren. He is active in his local church and on the board of OC International, a mission sending agency that is involved in 25 countries, helping to redesign healthcare benefit plans in order to control rising healthcare premiums. His mission related trips have taken him to China, Thailand, Spain, Bahrain, and Switzerland. Dick is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys skiing, golf, hiking, and cycling.
