BDC Advisors sponsors Joanne Berrios and Angie Everett for 14 month leadership program aimed at advancing women to senior executive positions in health care.
Miami, Florida, Nov 20, 2018—BDC Advisors, a founding sponsor of the Carol Emmott Fellowship, announced today that it has increased its support for the third year of the national leadership program which is dedicated to promoting gender equity in the health care C-Suite.
“The Carol Emmott Fellowship is doing ground-breaking work in overcoming gender disparity in health care leadership,” said Rick Wesslund, BDC Advisors founder and Chairman. “Women are still under-represented in senior board level positions in our industry, which is why we are doubling our support to include two Fellows in 2019. BDC is pleased to be able to lend our support to CEF’s critical mission, and we welcome our new Fellows for what we expect will be a challenging and rewarding year.”
Wesslund said that BDC will sponsor two Fellows in 2019: Joanne Berrios, CPA, M.Acc., Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for GuideWell Health Inc., St. Johns, Florida, and Angie Everett, LCSW, CCM, LNHA, Service Line Administrator for Post Acute & Rehabilitation Services for North Mississippi Health System, headquartered in Tupelo, Miss.
As VP and CFO of the GuideWell holding company, Berrios is responsible for financial oversight across the various GuideWell divisions including Florida (Blue Cross) Health Care Plans, Capital Health Plan, the Diagnostic Clinic Medical Group, and GuideWell Emergency Medicine Doctors. Berrios is an innovative leader in healthcare finance, strategy, and business development. She previously held the position of Director, Innovation and Business Development-Strategic Planning at St. Vincent’s Health System in Jacksonville, a member of Ascension Health, the largest non-profit health system in the nation. Kevin Sears, a BDC Director and former senior executive at the Cleveland Clinic and Trinity Health, will be Berrios’ BDC guide for the year.
Angie Everett provides oversight and strategic leadership for the care management and care transitions at North Mississippi Medical Center, the flagship hospital of North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS). Her responsibilities include leadership across the continuum of care, aligning these services with NMHS’ clinically integrated network, a network of community hospitals and an ACO. Steve Weylandt, BDC Managing Director, will be Everett’s BDC guide for the year.
BDC’s 2017 Fellow, Barbara Fonte, MHSA, has moved to a new leadership role as Vice President, Managed Care and Population Health at Jackson Health in Miami from her position as Associate Vice President of the University of Miami Health System. BDC’s 2018 Fellow, Marissa Kiefer, MHSA, is currently Vice President, Strategy at Riley Children’s Health— part of Indiana University Health in Indianapolis.
Dave Anderson, PhD., a Senior Advisor at BDC Advisors, serves on the CEF’s National Advisory Board.
