How to Know if it is Time to Partner and Issues to Consider in the Partnership Process
The prospect and fear of disruption in healthcare is good for deals, particularly the vertical kind. With the failure of high profile attempts to integrate horizontally, creative partnerships abound. Insurers are leading much of this activity, in recognition of the value of being where patients are. The Walmart/ Humana deal has potential to touch more lives than the much talked about Amazon venture, as a force in the Medicare Advantage industry to transform how seniors access health care. OptumCare Health, the physician arm of insurance giant UnitedHealth Group, continues it physician practice buying spree. Of course, deals are not isolated to insurers or even to traditional healthcare providers as we look to impact population health in new ways.
In light of all of this, is now the time for your organization to partner? Elizabeth Walker, JD, MHA, FACHE, recently presented Time to Partner? How to Know if it is Time to Partner and Issues to Consider in the Partnership Process at the HFMA Indiana 2018 Spring Institute. Along with Kevin Woodhouse from Ice Miller, she explored:
