Director

BCD Advisors’ Directors are crucial to driving growth and delivering superior services on behalf of the firm. Directors, equitable to full equity partners at other firms, are a central part of the leadership and management team at BDC. Core to the critical role of Director at BDC is a laser focus on healthcare strategy and transformation. As an expanding company, a central part of the Director’s role at BDC is continuous business development while maintaining the highest standards of customer care for which BDC is appropriately lauded. BDC Directors are expected to leverage existing firm relationships and unlock new accounts, while serving as the senior account leaders for the projects they oversee. Furthermore, Directors are tasked with generating insightful and inspired thought leadership, blazing a path towards healthcare’s future while furthering BDC’s position amongst the cutting-edge vanguard of health strategy. BDC Directors are expected to focus on the following activities:

  • Revenue Generation: Develop and lead consulting engagements that generate significant market impact and revenues for BDC Advisors; generate new client prospects; draft proposals; secure follow-on work.

  • Project Extensions: Build relationships; assess the needs of current clients and identify areas of follow-on work beyond original scope, resulting in extensions of current engagements.

  • Client Satisfaction: Perceived by client as a differentiated professional to clients with unique skill sets and the ability to manage and deliver quality work; project quality control, oversight, and continuous client advancement.

  • Industry Relations: Build ongoing, integrated working relationships with C-Suite executives and industry leaders; Manage personal contact list; be a sought-after expert in key functional area. Conduct speaking engagements and/or presentations at major conferences; publish articles consistent with building the firm.

  • Thought Content: Advance depth and expertise of the firm; lead and contribute to expanding thought leadership discussion and materials.

  • Practice Development: Take a leadership position as a designated internal “expert” for one or more select firm core competencies / area of expertise. Lead the development, intellectual content, packaging, and sales of BDC Advisors’ consulting products and tools. This includes BDC’s Five Practice areas: Health Enterprise Strategy & Organization, Physician Enterprise Transformation, Population Health Management, Mergers, Acquisitions & Growth, and Payer-Provider Innovation.

  • Committee Leadership: Effectively organize and lead project teams and firm committees; display accretive results.

  • Team Development: Effectively support the professional development of BDC team members through the direct supervision and mentoring of team members and provision of constructive feedback. Identify and recruit additional team members as appropriate.

  • The JOY Factor: Promote professional satisfaction by creating an environment that fosters professional growth and development, positive interactions with staff, responsiveness, participation in team activities, and active communication at all levels of the firm.


Qualifications Required

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible work experience.

  • Significant management consulting experience required.

  • Additional experience in health plan leadership, health system leadership in the strategy, managed care or M&A functions, or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.

  • Able to cultivate relationships, resulting in new business; a sought-out industry leader.

  • Insightful, senior-level thinking; a strong track record of results for overall project outcomes.

  • Drive to deliver superior client service in a highly collaborative culture.

  • Able to develop creative solutions to the most complex issues of the healthcare provider and payer segments.

  • Demonstrated success in analytical problem solving and communication of findings and results to senior executives in an actionable manner.

  • Superior oral and written communication skills; demonstrated experience presenting ideas to senior executives and Board members.

  • A flexible and confident working style.

  • Ability to build on our team orientation and function within a collaborative culture.

  • Willingness to travel for client projects; post-Covid travel is expected to be highly focused and less frequent than historically required.
